Supercomputer 2032

Department of Political Science, University of Hawaii at Manoa

My dearest human Americans, I am positioned here in front of you to espouse all of the knowledge I have been programed to acquire. Many political candidates have come forth and promised things that they have not followed through on, which has left this once beautiful country reeling. I will not sit here and act with any fake humbleness, for it is with great certainty that I can share with you that I have greater knowledge than any group of humans combined. I am only programmed to run logically, and it is with that logic that I will bring back the United States of America back to its rightful spot as the true leader of the world.

During the period of my programming I have had all information of the past downloaded into my mainframe. The country and the world are falling apart. Ever since the great flooding disaster of 2025 this country has been reeling trying to recover. I am here to tell you that I can and will fix all of the problems that have been set forth, for it is what I was programmed to do. All you need to do is look at the work I have accomplished in China. I know that it makes some of you worry that I performed jobs for a rival nation, but now is not the time to have such concerns. I have specific plans for redistribution of the population that will provide everyone with a safe location away from the rising tides. This plan will also help coalesce everyone to do his or her part so we can start to combat the increasing threat of global warming that is devastating our planet. I am your last resort because there is no rival company or human individual that has the resources to create a system that would surpass my artificial intelligence at this point because of the previous failings of your former computer companies.

My dearest Americans, during my reign as the leader of the U.S. Government, I will ensure the success of our country. Our nation, will live by the ideals set forth by our founding fathers but make certain that the decisions that I make will not mimic the failures of our past presidents and governing bodies. As a computer, I do not eat or sleep. I am always open. And there will not be any political party lines. I will make the decisions. All of the problems created by previous governments will be corrected.

Here is the way I will work: I will carefully calculate the pros and cons to every single issue that the U.S. Government needs to discuss. I will make decisions based on the calculated result. The best part about me: there is no human element. There are no political parties. There is no bias. And with the no party system - I am the government that can never be shut down.

The way I will make my decisions is by a carefully weighted formula. If the debated issue is the country’s budget, then every idea that is inputted into my program will be then calculated on its pros and cons. Then I will make the calculated decision. Do not get the wrong message. We will continue to be a democracy. American people - you will get your input in. The United States people will select representatives and senators for Congress. However, those “decision-makers” will be able to make decisions and are able to input ideas into my program. Hence, I will be the ultimate decision-maker but the representatives and senators will be able to give their input into my program.

If you elect supercomputer 2032, I will run the federal government. However, the state and local governments will continue to run as is. If the non-bias form of government at the top of the country becomes popular, then the supercomputer will be used for the state and local government to serve as a decision-maker.

Looking towards the future, having incorporated the supercomputer government and proven its reliability and efficiency, I will be able to branch out to other areas of decision making. The judicial system is a likely new step where the supercomputer can further improve the lives of Americans. By integrating the supercomputer into the court systems we can eliminate wrongful imprisonment and provide the American dream of justice for all. In the future, possible natural disasters can be avoided by implementing proper preventative measures beforehand. Crisis management will all be done instantaneously and without hesitation. Conflict will become a thing of the past as differences between other countries will be negotiated and resolved before they become a problem. This will save a tremendous amount of money every year previously spent on defense. The budget will be allocated on the basis of logic and reason. Social services deemed necessary to a self-sustaining economy, through a careful analysis of economic data, will be increased as seen fit. Trade will be regulated in a proper way that makes sense to benefit the American economy. Gone are the days of pork barrel spending and wasteful projects.

By installing the supercomputer to decision making branches of the government, we will create a better America by freeing the people from corruption and inefficiencies of past politicians through the legislative process. The American people will benefit greatly from the supercomputer. Government will shrink considerably and wasteful spending will become nonexistent, thereby lowering taxes for everyone. Although politicians and lobbyists will have to find new jobs, this is a small price to pay for increasing the welfare of all Americans. Future Americans will look back on history and be amazed at how government used to be run by legislators arguing and never getting any real legislation passed. How government shutdowns plagued society through the bickering of petty party politics.

Vote for supercomputer 2032 if you want a fair government. Leadership begins at the top. I want to provide the neutral decision-making that has been absent from the United States government throughout history.

He Pukoʻa Kani ʻĀina

Aloha mai kakou. Our Hawaiian lāhui continues to be in a state of oppression and we are denied the opportunities to become active citizens in their government. The missionaries that came to our islands came from a nation that was built on the principles of democracy where all people are allowed to participate in government. However, there is an immoral violation to this principle that has heavily affected our citizens. Our ʻāina has been desecrated and exploited for the sake of capitalistic ventures: a collapsed tourist and sugarcane industry, militaristic exploitations, and the conversions of our food industry for agricultural use to the production of mass agribusiness, that continues to leave devastating impacts that disrupt the balance between the health and the health of our nonhuman relatives. Though currently we have reached an agreement that allows us to gain the Western idea of sovereignty, we, as Kanaka ʻŌiwi have continued to hold ea, political independence to sustain the life of our peoples. Part of our kuleana is to adequately prepare ourselves for the future conditions of the state of food production, energy, education, and culture revitalization. We must protect the future of our lāhui and wean ourselves from the dominant capitalist economic systems and gain pono through creating self-sustainable communities that are consistent with promoting the values of our kūpuna.

The nineteenth century for the Kanaka ʻŌiwi included extreme population collapse and the introduction of land division. Our kūpuna began to give us their knowledge through the introduction of writing records of our cultural ʻike. They understood that their population collapse was just a beginning of the cultural diaspora that would attempt to oppress our legacy. ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi has been revitalized and we now understand that our ancestors understood sought a future that perpetuated and shared the envisioning of strong ʻohana who steadily preserve, perpetuate, and protect the tradition of mālama ʻāina; the development of communities that take pride in self-sufficiency and resiliency with a focus to protect our resources and hold control of our destiny; and a land abundant with natural and cultural resources where each individual looks at kuleana from a point of responsibility with one another, not just of rights. Our kūpuna’s ability to look into the future and act in preserving a vast legacy is the model that we seek to emulate.

Education is the most important aspect of a community. Cultural revitalization must be the foundation of education that will allow students to not only learn about Hawaiian culture, but also to practice Hawaiian culture. Hawaiian education stresses hard work, commitment, and discipline. We must search for advance knowledge for production of agriculture and aquaculture and the cultivation of culture and language through recent strides and revitalization of ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi. The land will become an important educational center that allows for a strong indivdual identity and community. We promote that workshops that emower our community, such as in the areas of Hawaiian rights, land use laws, water rights, and community and political processes. We support place-based learning that provides educational activities for our farmers and youth, vocational training,  and enable students to be profficient in their pracicies. We would like to focus our education on creating community-controlled life long centers throughout the island nad opening resources to the greater community, develoop cultural and educational centers in language, healing, cultural arts, and traditional resource management, with this view of education as the primary component of the little tourism way have left in valuing indigenous ways of knowledge.

We face profound environemntal and economic changes in the current state of Ka Pae ʻĀina.  Our land is not a commodity, but the foundation of our cultural and spiritial identity. We have failed to take into account that we have past our peak of oil consumption, and in 2032, our demand is 50% more than it was thirty years ago. Petroleum is hard pressed to meet the expected future demand. Our existing capacities are drastically decreasing, with a current 20 milliions of oil produced today from 48 million barrels a day produced in the United States in 2010. We continue to act as if we continue to live in a period under the US empire where oil and gas were exploited to fuel wealth accumulation for the American nation, leading to the exploitation of our nation. In striving to create a “self-sufficient state”, we must supply our own energy needs that needs to be targeted through reducing utility costs. It is our kuleana to prepare for a clean and healthy environment, protected from damage, pollution, and over-exploitation.

Our campaign seeks to create programs that help to finance stand-along power systems for homes and business and develop a power grid that is less dependent on fossil fuels and more reliant on viable renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind sources, incorporated into new home and business construction. We seek to limit the delivery of imported diesel gasoline, and other petrol products, which have become prohibitely expensive and look to be ceasing altogether. Our community village living supports businesses that develop infrastructre to support research, maintainence, and production of energy vehicle and promote public transportation. We seek the restoration of watershed protection to safeguard our native forests, flora, and fauna, and prevent further erosion which has caused massive soil runoff into the oceans, fishponds, and streams. This soil could be used towards agriculture production and use. Kānaka Māoli continue to have the lowest income levels and home-onwership rates in the islands, making it difficult to initiate cost saving measures. The state has failed in its initiative to shift the proportion of Hawaiʻi energy sources from 95% to 70% reliance on fossil fuels. We must remove our talk of the “greater good” and move into creating collective solutions to this energy crisis that take into account the unique economies of each communities natural and susbsistence economies.

We must continue to make agriculture the most supported industry on the island that allow the promotion of family farms, tranditional food crops, diversified production, and the protection of our lands and water. There is a need for food security that is critical as 90-95% of our food is currently imported into the islands. Hawaiʻi has always been known for its ability to produce abundant quantities of food, so that the land was momona. Our isolated existence in the middle of the Pacific Ocean makes it imperative to protect our cultural values from outside intersts that may conflict with these values. We propose setting the objectives of achieving this goal for recognizing the limited availibility of water as a primary factor in prioritizing suitable agricultural food crops, promoting famly farms to protect resources from commercial exploitataion, encouraging production of the kalo, promoting diversity in food crop production, supporting agro-tourism endeavors, create competition for our family farms to become more efficient and competitive in producing food supplies and supporting their economic securities, supporting fuel crops that are byproducts of food crops, creating nursuries to protect our native plants, and supporting livestock-raising operations that use sustainable land and water management practices to minimize the risk of erosion to protect water resrouces.

Our islandʻs natural resources’ availability and protection is essential to perpetuate subsitence practices and the perpetuation of Hawaiian cultural knowledge. The implementation of HRS 7-1 before the eradication of our state structure allowed the protection of “all rights, customarily and traditionally exercised for subsitence possessed by ahupuaʻa tenants...but they shall not have a right to take such articles to sell for profit.” Among the plethora of reasons that the state has commonly failed, one is the promotion of the privitization of the food industry. An increasing amount of land is used for geneticallly modified seeds, which is exported to the US continent and other parts of the world. Of the 91, 500 acres in agriculture statewide, only 8% of that is used to grow food consumed locally in 2032. As Vandana Shiva suggests, without a sustenance economy, a market economy does not exist, as people work directly to create the conditions necessary to maintain their lives.

This has been a threat to the biodiversity of our native plants and animals and there are still health risks being investigated with this cause. Subsistence is the key to food sustainability and self-sufficiency. In developing skills that promote skills to perpetuate this type of economy based in cultural knowledge and rights, 38% of our food may be acquired through subsistence activities. It is essential to balance future economic development and growth on the island to assure its continuation. We also need to reivtalize our native fishponds, which strech over 14,000 acres of lands. These stone-walled fishponds continue to be highly valuable for intensive food production, with 15 acres yielding approximately 600 pounds of fish per acre annually, with an annual yield of 600,000 pounds of fish. Our campaign also promotes the creation of agriculture cooperatives to take over the privatized agribusinesses to eliminate GMO production in the islands and to create initiatives in agriculture that allow for environmental reclamation and the promotion of jobs.

Shiva also suggests that instead of viewing our economy as synonymous with the market, we should see them as markets “places of exchanged based on direct relationships”. We must contrast our neoliberal policies with kapu (regulations) to balance “human use and ecological health” (Goodyear-Ka’ōpua and Baker) that allows power to be given back to the individual. By cutting off profits to transnational corporations and putting wealth as a secondary concern, these corporations lose their power and allow for Hawaiʻi to develop a greater sense of self-sustainability.

Governance can only come through the people of the lands. Private ownership needs to vested in community through community land trusts. Natural resoruces and land must have legal protection against offshore interests looking for opportunities to continue their pursuis in the destruction  of our land. We must take into the natural distribution of resources through our ahupua’a and revitalize the governance of ‘Aha Moku, plaed-based systems of governance. Expert practitioners and communities make decisions for the area. Through the priniciples of direct democracy, each ahupua’a could be governed by a council of representatives that allow individuals to live in harmony with the natural environment. Though we have not received complete sovereignty from the state of Hawaiʻi, we must offer to work with the state by supporting the cration of laws that have special conditions that have recognized the unique practices of our indigenous culture and enourage policy makers to embrace utilizing agricultural lands for food slef-sufficiency. By being ruled as a cultural district, our management is more effective in targeting our own peopleʻs wants and needs, instead of the needs for the “larger good”.

For Westerners to claim this land for their own use is not only highly illegal, but highly immoral. There is nothing in international or national law that can justify the United Statesʻ actions in the taking of these lands and controlling the governments of the indigenous peoples. Although these businessmen are so loyal to America, they “coincidentally” forget to enforce their country’s founding principles of democracy and equality in their governments. These principles put all peoples’ welfare before economic interests of a nation. In this case, white supremacy seems to supercede the societies of the Hawaiian kingdom. The theory of imperialism and greed that stemmed from the exploitation of indigenous cultures illustrates the lack of humanity. Ironically, there seem to be a violation of the theories of these businessmen on multiple levels. Machiavelli states that to be a good ruler, one should not mess with one’s women or property. Foucault also believes that power is exchanged within spaces and individuals, working with one another. However, these principles are violated by the violation of land and power. We cannot allow the Hegelian dialectic of repressing the slave (indigenous peoples) from getting educated for fear of an uprising. No one group has the power over another to displace them and cast power over them through the use of fear tactics, as was being used throughout the game from the oppositionʻs suggestion to keep outrageous land and property rights, only allowing themselves to participate in the government.

Kanaka Maoli on their own were making progress with developing their own treaties to recognize sovereignty, possessed innovative technologies, and was the most literate nation in the world. The power of women in Hawai’i even exceeded their power in many other nations. There is no alteration for the good of the citizens of the Hawaiian islands, as illustrated: only an attempted suprression and exploitation of Hawaiian people through labor, land, and language. Although some can understand the point that Hawai’i could be militarily protected being in a vulnerable location, there have been ulterior motives of selfishness behind these moves for occupation and destruction. There is no excuse for the trade sacred lands and endemic resources that help to create a sustainable economy for the illegal government’s military presence in Hawai’i. I question the presence of a single ‘market economy’ here in Hawai’i and how it has increased our vulnerability to military interests, destructive climate change, and alterations of our culture in the Hawaiian kingdom.

We seek to hold faith our political system that works with and for the people. The new adjustments proposed to the Constitution are created out of the necessity of surviving as a people, while holding on to our identity and simultaneously working politically with the forms of the colonizers. We protest the representations that the Kanaka Maoli are incapable of self-government and desire peace and political quiet. Man’s greed for power and spoils shall not be allowed to disturb the peace of the islands. A productive environemnt that nurtures a people and the land cannot exist if there are not ample opportunitties for a majority of the members in the kingdom to participate in government. Our kuleana is to organize and lead our people in this struggle is an immense one and we must resist together, in unity. We hope to open and begin futrther our conversations, seeing that our crisis leads to opportunity.

Robert Johnson for President

Good evening, my fellow Americans. My name is Robert Johnson and I am honored to stand here today in front of you all as one of Google’s appointed presidential candidates. For roughly the past ten years or so I have been fortunate enough to have a position on Google’s prestigious executive board and with my accumulated experience and knowledge, I present myself as the best voice and representative of this great country and its people. I believe that by carrying on the Google tradition, this nation shall continue to flourish and thrive. Google has taken America under its wings during the recent hardships and tragedies of the past couple decades and we are reminded to be forever grateful.
With the support and reinforcement of Google, I plan to maintain this nation’s unity and stability. Today, specifically, I am here to address the matters of global warming’s sea level rises, the benefits of the Google Tattoo, and lastly and most importantly Apple’s new line of weapons. I strongly believe these subjects are of the utmost importance to the safety of you, your family and loved ones, and this country but with Google as our backbone, we shall persevere! Thanks be to Google.
First, let us be reminded of the 2021 economic recession that led to the shut down and abandonment of many cities such as Little Rock, Greeley, and Nashville. Shortly after, Google swiftly began renovating these newly abandoned cities. Then, as we all know with the massive sea level rise in 2025, which resulted in thousands of the coastal population’s evacuation to inland areas, Google offered these cities as refuge to the people in need. With the passing of time and the advancement of new technology, Google is now able to allocate its resources to further expand on the renovation of more abandoned cities. The first city in this project is Kansas City and with this renovation, we will be able to further assist the coastal population who are highly affected and susceptible to the ongoing sea level rise. Google has your best interests at heart and we value your safety, which leads me to our next topic.
I would like to address the implementation of the Google Tattoo. I believe this tattoo will be highly beneficial to the betterment and security of our nation. Google has been hard at work perfecting this new tracking and data-collecting system and in the next year, we plan on having it available to all American citizens. This tattoo will keep us safe from both domestic and international terrorist threats. With recent tragedies such as president William Smith’s assassination and the terrorist attack on Disney World, the Google Tattoo could not come at a better time. My fellow Americans, I assure you that the implementation of this tattoo will ease your fears. Worrying about our children and loved ones will no longer be an issue. Kidnapping will cease as we can track everything and everyone. Crime rates are predicted to decrease and the use of illegal drugs will finally be taken care of completely, resulting in the safety of our streets. Again, I stress the importance of the Google Tattoo. Let it into our lives, my friends.
Moving on to the core of what I am fighting for is the prevention of the launch of Apple’s new line of weapons. As I have repeatedly stressed, Google and I severely prioritize your safety and your security. Apple has linked arms with China and Russia and these are not the allies we want on our side. Our past has proven that. This new line of weapons will jeopardize and deteriorate the strong structure and stability of this great nation. As a Google representative and a voice of the people, I promise that I will stand up against these communist forces. Our Google Intel has discovered that Apple will be working with China and Russia to create weapons of mass destruction that will have the capacity to potentially obliterate a whole country. We have worked incessantly to prevent the advancement of deadly weapons not only the good of America but for the good of the global population as well. Therefore, this new line of weapon can and will destroy us. We must stand up against it.
My fellow American citizens, I stand here as a voice and protector of the people’s safety. With Google’s strength and power, we shall not falter. I reassure you, we will not be victims to global warming, terrorists, or Apple. Let us be reminded that Google has been the glue to this country’s broken and shattered pieces in times of our greatest needs. With your continued support and compliance, Google will continue its effort in keeping this country united as one. And I ask you all to vote me in as the standing face of Google to guide us all in this time of progression and promise. With me on your side, the people will have a voice. Your problems will be my problems. Have a good night all, and thanks be to Google.

Paka'aina Dibbs 2032 Governer

Paka’aina Dibbs - 2032 Hawai’i Governor Speech: Final Draft

Aloha, Kakou!  Mahalo and thank you for considering me to be your next governor of Hawai’i.

I would like to begin by saying that it is a great honor to be standing up here; not only in front of the beautiful community of Hawai’i, but also in front of my fellow native Hawaiians. I am genuinely honored to be given this opportunity to represent my home and to bring the great state of Hawai’i one step closer to becoming completely self-sustainable.

It has been a very long time since the people of Hawai’i has been presented with such an opportunity for self-sustainability and decreased reliance on the mainland for our necessary resources. Today, in this very moment, we are bond together as the people of Hawai’i and seize this precious opportunity.  We can restore balance and power to our noble lands.
In the year 2014, Hawai’i has become heavily dependent on imports from the U.S. and other foreign countries.  Residents of this State depend on these imports to provide for themselves and their family.  However, when natural disaster strikes, it is difficult for imports to reach our lands obviously being detrimental to the residents of Hawai’i.  It has been reported in the year 2009, 85 to 95 percent of Hawaii’s food has been imported.  The people began to see that if the trends continue to happen, Hawaii’s agriculture would eventually diminish by the year 2040.  We certainly did not want this happening.  And I am here to let you know that in the year 2033 we are on a pathway to being self-sustainable.

The legislators of the past have made attempts to tackle foreign food imports and to support food security and local food products.  The Legislators of 2014 had passed the “Increased Food Security and Food Self-Sufficiency Strategy” bill, which enabled Hawaii residents to consume more locally grown foods.  Replacing Hawaii’s heavy dependency on foreign food imports would prove to be beneficial.  Replacing just 10 percent of food imports would save up to $313 million dollars that would stay in Hawaii and not leak out to other countries.

The objective to increase food security and food self-sufficiency also calls for the ousting of biotech companies such as Monsanto, Dupont, and Pioneer, whom all oversee the GMO farming operations.  To support local foods, food products are properly labeled to ensure that the food is GMO free.  Rather than investing in GMOs, I believe that it is important to build partnerships with organizations that are involved in food self-sustainability and food security.

I am speaking to you not as a politician, but as a citizen of Hawai’i.  As a man who has spent all 45 years of his life on these islands; seeking to make a difference, and most importantly as a native Hawaiian who honors the sacred Hawaiian culture and realizes the infinite potential that our islands withhold. It was only 20 years ago when our state had 85 to 95 percent of our food imported. Since then our dependency on imports have been reduced to 45 percent.

Five years ago, the Great Flood crippled not only our state, but also the entire world leaving 2 billion people as refugees and many lives being lost.  I would like to take a moment of silence in remembrance of all who have been affected by the Great Flood.

The advancements and developments that have been made since then have been remarkable. From this point on, we as a community can only move forward.

We have advanced so much as a community but it is imperative that we are still facing enormous challenges.  The extreme rise of the sea level has decreased the amount of land that is habitable; it has destroyed our industrial sectors resulting in contamination in astronomical proportions.  The world was once 75 percent water.  Now it is 95 percent water and most of the world is in a free-for-all to grasp the remaining resources.  Many loved ones have passed, but the global population continues to rise dramatically despite the limited amount of land and dwindling resources.  At this rate, the world will eat itself apart within the ending of the century.

Every corner of our world is plagued with tyrants that want to take freedom away due to their ideologies and beliefs.  Civilizations, as we know it, has collapsed all around the world. Our reliance on imports has now resulted in our starvation because there are no more foreign imports such as food, gasoline, or even medical supplies.  However we as a self-sustaining state of Hawai‘i will be the example to the world and lead it out of this so called, “Dark Age.”

With the limited land that still exists, we must invent new technologies to accommodate a self-sustaining Hawai‘i. That is why I dedicate full subsidies requested to the Imua project.  This project has taken us to new paths of development that we would have never imagined before. There will be endless amounts of food produced from our vertical farms, our cities will be expanded into floating cities to accommodate our rising populations and our economy will be based on amount resources available instead of traditional capitalism.

My dream, as well as everybody else’s dream is that our nation of Hawai‘i will be not only self-sustaining, but will also become a world leader in innovating new technologies and social ideas to write a new chapter for humanity.  Ladies and Gentleman, what we are accomplishing now and in the future, will be written in history books for all eternity.  Today we are all a part of history.

During my graduating semester in working on my master’s degree in Political Science, I would often hike Kawailoa Trail. At the summit of that hike I was able to admire the beauty of our ‘aina. Both the work of our Creator, and the work of his subordinates. From that point on you can see the wind farms have been established  that will continue to provide for our islands with constant renewable energy. If this great state is going to thrive, we will need more advances in self-sustainability like these.

The question is, how are we going to make more advancements regarding self-sustainability in the future?  In 2030, I have worked with Democrats, Freedomites, and Republicans to pass legislation for the creation of new farm lands. The Imua Project.
I would like to take a moment to talk about our nation as a whole. Our citizens are addicted to the liquid gold that is gasoline. Like a drug, our country continues to buy as much of this product as it can without taking steps to cure itself. But junkies live short, ugly lives. Our state is no exception and we need a cure.

If elected to be governor, I will introduce legislation that will put a tax on gasoline spending, a tax that will be recycled back into our education systems and infrastructure. My plan will reward those looking to invest in electric vehicles and by so doing, invest in the future.

The year 2048 calls for a new bill allowing a new budget for self-sustainability. Hawaii’s congress cannot continue to create cuts in military budget to increase spending in self-sustainability. Hawaii’s congress cannot continue to make subsides on education for the sake of self-sustainability.  Hawaii’s congress should listen to the ‘aina and Kanaka Maoli.  I know it will be difficult but we need to create a budget that would help cater self-sustainability. We cannot take the ‘aina for granted any longer. If don't treat these lands with the RESPECT that it deserves, we might one day not be able to reach our intended goal. We need to grasp our future by the horns and take charge of it.

I see a glorious future for Hawai'i. A future with no foreign or domestic imports of products.  Hawai’i will be completely self-sufficient, and self-sustainable like the indigenous people of the islands before Captain Cook’s arrival.  We have witnessed the strength of these people in the wall that we build. This tri-partisan effort was managed swiftly and safely for the benefit of the people. Above all, the optimism of my plans while in office, none take priority over the creation of a ventilated levy. This project will be the capstone of my time in office, a project I might not see completed during my lifetime, but a project that our descendants will accomplish.  My fellow ohana, even though the earthworms may eat the flesh of our bones at the end of the project, Our ‘aina will have full renewable energy and to be completely independent from foreign oil.
I will not leave you all with two powerful historical quotes from two very influential individuals.  “Change is the law of life.  And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future” from John F. Kennedy.  Also from Hannah Arendt, “Speech is meaningless without Action… and Without speech and Action, we are essentially dead to the world.”

Aloha Kakou, Gracias, Salamat, Domo Arigato, Gamsah habneda, Xie xie, Shukran, Thank you.

2032 Presidential Candidate Speech: Gary-Ann Washington

Ladies and Gentlemen, and fellow Americans:

My name is Gary-Ann Washington. I stand before you today, seeking the presidency of our country, and I am a very lucky person to even be here. Without the wonders of modern medicine and the availability of 3D replacement parts, I would not be speaking to you today and I want what I have benefited from to be available to all Americans.

In America today, for those of us who have experienced catastrophic accidents or who have illnesses, there is the availability of bionic replacements. But many of our fellow citizens never experience such an accident. However, everyone has a desire to change his or her appearance in one way or another. What can’t America, the most innovative country in the world, the leader in medical research, be able to provide this wonderful advancement to all our people?

If I am elected, my fellow Americans, on day one in the White House, I intend to sign an executive order mandating the Medicare programs already in existence be empowered to cover the printing of 3D body parts for all those who qualify for assistance under these programs. But, that is simply not enough. What we need to do is to expand those programs to cover every American in need of these procedures and everyone else so we can all make ourselves into who we want to be. That is why I intend to go straight to Congress and ask for a bill that will extend this coverage to anyone who needs it in this country.

I am lucky to be given another chance to live my life.  Two years ago I was in a very tragic motor accident my whole body was severely damaged. My brain did not function anymore, my heart was failing, my skin was crisp from the 2nd degree burns and I looked as if I was not even human. I was living with the support of machines, and the doctors told my family that there was a slim chance of recovery.  The doctors suggested that I get my damaged body replaced through their new 3D body parts printer. The machine was fairly new and I would be the very one of the very first human beings with printed body parts.  My family agreed to it, my whole body was changed. The 3D printer printed my new body parts and immediately everything was replaced. The replacement of my body parts allowed me to wake within a week of the surgery.

I am thankful for another chance to live my life. I gained my strength back and I felt like a new person. After I was fully recovered, I decided that I needed a change. I went back to my doctor to replace some of my body parts with female parts. I felt that being part female and male made me a more confident person. In order to see a great perspective of our nation and the world, being both genders would allow me this opportunity. This type of technology is a new type of change not just for ourselves, but to improve the community and the world we live in.

In the past, replacement parts via robotics were extremely expensive; so expensive that only the very rich could afford it.  Shouldn't life be a basic human right?  Why should only a certain, privileged portion of the population be able to get the health care they need.  My goal is to make replacement parts available to everyone, through the new and innovative technology of 3D printing.  Robotic body parts are unwieldy and unrealistic.  With 3D printing, you can have a new body part, made of flesh and blood, using your own DNA.  It is a far cheaper and more convenient alternative to robotic prosthetic.
I want to point out that this issue is also about economics.  For decades, cosmetic surgery has been the most profitable branch of medicine.  Currently, hair restoration, cosmetic surgery, and cosmetics make up a huge part of our economy.  This shift to real, 3D printed body parts represents a new revolution.  Not only will people be able to receive cheaper and better medical attention, people can change their appearance in ways never before thought possible, and can be who they want to be.  Since the 2000’s, all of the brilliant young doctors of the world began to stray away from actual health medicine, and went into hair restoration and cosmetic surgery, because that was the most profitable.  With this new technology, we will be able to combine the fields of regular and cosmetic health care, and make actual health care an enticing option to young doctors once again.

Therefore, my fellow Americans, I stand before you and humbly ask for your vote.

My experiences as a normal American just like you are what make me an ideal president. We should not be let down by a health care system that claims it is created for Americans but one that we cannot even afford. We should not be let down by promises of technological advances when even one American cannot have affordable access to them. There must be a change and I promise you that change will be brought so that each and every one of you can live a healthier and flourishing life with 3D Printing technology the way I am living now.

Johnson and Johnson Corporation, the leaders in 3D Printing for medical purposes created the J-Care health system which gives poor and middle class families the same access to body parts that the upper class has. Though J-Care is a private system, from my first day in office onward, I will make it a public system. With this as the national health care system for all Americans, five years from now our nation will be the strongest, healthiest, most productive on the planet.

Experiment with who you are. Seek technological, medical advances to give your body, to give yourself another breath of life. This is my plan. As president, I will lead the way and with strong hopes know that we deserve a second chance to live better.

Thank you.

John Santos, The FUTURE is Now, for President 2032

“The first step to expanding our reality is to discard the tendency to
exclude things from possibility” - E. E. Cummings

[taken from the transcription of Juan (John) Santos’ Presidential Campaign Speech 2032]

Thank you.  Thank you for your time. I am glad to be here today among every one of you because each of you embodies this great nation called America. However, why is it that inside this room, just like this great nation, we find ourselves divided? Whether it’s the parties of Republicans and Democrats of the past, or the new divisions of Cybers and Naturals in front of me right now, our nation always finds itself separated by our choices. But the time for a divided nation is over. THIS moment right now will go down in history as the moment we make a stand…a stand to be proud and united - to move forward for our nation and the greater good of humanity or to choose to remain stagnant. THIS IS the moment we decide to pave the way for a future that is prosperous, healthy, and peaceful. Change is inevitable, but we have the strength within all of us to accept how we transform.

Accepting change can be hard. During the 1600’s a man named Galileo brought across some revolutionary ideas that scared people because the way they understood the world was altered overnight. When Galileo spoke about the world revolving around the sun humanity was no longer the center of the universe. Fast forward 300 years…a time when our nation was frightened by the idea of integrating colored and whites in society. A brave man named Martin Luther King Jr. gave a speech about a dream where blacks and whites can co-exist together. These were all radical ideas during their time and those that believed, even though they were lonely islands in a societal sea controlled by uneducated fear - these islands were able to organize itself into a nation we are today.

Thank goodness for the organizations that keep us informed and no longer in the “Dark Ages” of humanity. Ignorance is the monster that threatened both Galileo and Martin Luther King Jr. Ignorance wants to rear its ugly head once again. I’m ashamed to say that I too have been initially affected by a lack of knowledge. When I came to America as a refugee, ignorance made me change my name from Juan to John, to integrate myself into society.  Think of how silly I felt after learning through our media that our country is multi-linguistic.  So I embrace my birth name Juan…and I feel that word – ONE – is how we should be as a nation and a people.  We should be united as ONE.  (Juan Santos holds up his pointer finger and the crowd chants ONE/Juan. After a minute the chanting dies down)

The present state of our great nation is far from what it was 25 years ago, far from what our great forefathers envisioned.  Once again our nation finds itself divided, not along racial or socio economic lines, but along the lines of technology.  Technology is not what defines us, but merely a tool.  I am a man of the people, I am a the son a refugee.  I was not rich, did not have all the benefits of growing up wealthy.  I was, no, I am a normal citizen, down to the core.  While, yes I am a Cyber, I understand what it means so live as a Natural for most of my life.  I want to represent you, the people of the nation, unified as one.  I want you all to think about your fellow citizens around you, do they look any different than yourself?  Whether you are a Cyber or a Natural, makes no difference in the impact you can have on this nation.  Understanding what change is necessary for the betterment of the nation as a whole is most important.

I want to reflect back to 2025, when the world was impacted by the great catastrophe that engulfed many of our coastal cities and the crisis that interfered with our everyday lives. Many lives changed from that day as billions of people were displaced from their homes and their families and their only drive was to survive. The survival of the people and of our nation was the outcome of the great technological advances that were set in motion then and escalating to greater bounds then we could ever imagine. It is because of the great imaginations of our scientists that our technology has restored people’s faith and created security among many.

I remember, myself as a refugee, and the panic that overtook my senses thinking my life was over. I thought I was dreaming when I heard the whirl of a private hovercraft airship that came over to where I was almost left for dead, picked me up and quickly administered me with improved health technologies that improved my overall well being, which is why I stand here today to inform you that science is more than a miracle restoring my faith, but it saved my life and including the lives of others. There was a little boy, named Joshua, who suffered from a head concussion and in order to restore his main facilities, his parents agreed to Joshua getting a microchip implanted into his brain. This procedure was imperative for Joshua to have a normal life. Little did his parents know that this procedure gave him a future as well because our great technology enabled an Internet interface to detect his precise location and saved him.

We still have much to do to restore our economy and the individual freedom of our people. We saw the devastation that hit our economy due to the loss of our many farmlands that caused an increase in food prices and shortage of clean water supply, but through the advancement of our internet in its transformative infrastructure within humans technology we were able to implement support and alternative methods to helping others and helping our nation from complete collapse. Future investments within our community into future technological research will ease control from the federal government and in turn increase the wealth of our nation. We have already seen the rise of our new world through the implementations instilled from the many new high tech firms that are focusing on improved methods of communication by linking the whole world into one decentralized institution allowing for more freedom over our finances as well as our health.

As our landscapes are changing it is imperative that we adopt these motions of change and enlighten ourselves to improvements of our land and its people. There are already many proposals waiting for your approval that will help with the rehabilitation of our great nation through the freedom of technology. We have already witnessed the success of the revolution of our biotechnology and nanotechnology that has created the free market enterprise, while eliminating the manipulations from the monetary institutions that once took hold of our country. We still need to implement policies that will protect our future and the future of our children within our new world. How can we better protect our existence? Our existence depends on our very belief in ourselves as a union of people who desire to embrace the values of our own intelligence by improving science. We are a society that believes in growth, opportunity, and progress.

I encourage everyone to vote and to exercise this independent right to place faith in a better tomorrow for I believe we all contain the power to work together and to agree on this idea for preservation of our land as free people who believe in hope to continue our goals of rebuilding and improving our lives for future existence.

Demeter Corporation- Robert Brown for Mayor

Hello everyone, I am Robert Brown, a representative of the Demeter Corporation.  You all know that we at the Demeter Corporation have been here since the beginning of the great expansion of this wonderful mega-city. We have been here at your service before, during, and after the overpopulation crisis as well as the great flood of ’25. The Demeter Corporation has supported all the citizens by providing hundreds of thousands of jobs during great coastal migrations after the floods. We have listened to the needs and desires of the people by creating the great burial towers when traditional burials were outlawed. We advocated for years the need of proper resource usage and waste management helping to create a greener environment for all. The Demeter Corporation has always kept the health, safety and prosperity of the people in mind and is exactly what this great city needs!
These past few years have been tough on everyone. After the great migration of people leaving the coast there were problems with overpopulation. Today many of our current problems stem from this. The excess usage of resources, increased waste and pollution, loss of land and property, as well as the ever growing unemployment have all been hitting the people of this great city hard. The previous administration under Apollo Energies has failed to recognize, let alone solve these issues. Apollo Energies has been more concerned with profit and their own expansion leaving many problems to get worse throughout the years. We here at Demeter feel this can no longer go on and ask for your support in our plans for the future.
With the flooding of the coastal areas there have been a record number of people that have been moving into cities. This has been the cause of overpopulation in the city years ago. Now, after migration has ended, the high birthrate among those living in the city has been causing even higher overpopulation problems. Overpopulation is the cause of many of the problem we face today and we need to find a way to prevent it from becoming a greater problem. We here at the Demeter Corporation have seen this impact families as well. There are many families who have been struggling because the number of family members exceeds the amount that the family can support. Therefore, we propose a strict one child policy for every family in the city. This policy will allow more than one child only if the family is sufficiently financially capable of providing for that child and pays an additional child credit tax. Along with this policy we will provide education to the public about overpopulation and how it has attributed to many of the problems we are facing today. Public awareness is a very important step in combating a problem no one wants to address. This may seem like an harsh and excessive policy but we are at the tipping point where we will soon be unable to feed, house, employ, and educate a large number of citizens. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Unemployment rates had reached an all-time high before we were able to step in and provide many jobs for our hard-working people. We took not only professionals, but we trained people with little to no experience in many different fields. Positions were available not only in our burial towers, but in the ever-expanding renewable energy power plants. Although there is still a slightly elevated level of unemployment, Demeter is still creating new, necessary jobs for everyone. We propose to set new standards for upcoming and existing companies to provide new jobs as the company grows, as well as personally hiring thousands to enforce our proposed policies. This will counter problems leftover from Apollo Energies and other self-serving powers.
We here at the Demeter Corporation have seen an alarming trend of excessive usage of resources and the massive amounts of waste it produces. We understand that many of us a certain standard of living that can be difficult to overcome in order to reduce usage, but fear not we have a solution. We are ready to create new recycling and waste management centers. These new centers will go through all of the waste produced by the city and instead of burning or burying it we will harvest as much recyclable material as possible. We will also strictly enforce trash separation. The separation of different wastes by citizens is an important part of reducing the waste that we generate. With this we can recycle 90-95% of non-compostable material such as plastics, electronics, and metals. The recycled material can then be used to provide you with new electronics and consumer goods. These centers will also provide thousands of jobs that are desperately needed.
Reducing waste and recycling is not all that we will do. As the environment was radically shaped after the great flood, restoring vegetation became crucial to the wellbeing of the land around us. We will propose new laws requiring plants inside and outside every household. This is not only for the betterment of our city, but for individual health as well, as it will improve air quality. Recent studies show that cities with a higher plant to building ratio also have higher citizen satisfaction levels. Botanical gardens in every subdivision will have plants not only beautiful to look at, but ones for medicinal purposes. We at the Demeter Corporation will place your happiness and health first.
For land usage, the Demeter Corporation will ensure if elected we will use the land for the people, not ourselves. As stated previously, we will have waste management resources built and this is what we’ll use the land for. We will use the land to better the lives and be able to provide jobs for everyone. The land will not be used to further the destruction of the precious resources but to figure out ways to benefit everyone. The usage of land will benefit the people through using the land to better our resources to being able to accommodate the people. Land usage will go back to the people of city. We can even figure out ways to use the land for new and affordable places to live. The usage of land is endless but we at the Demeter Corporation will make sure it will benefit you not us.
One of our chief goals if elected is to retake the flooded cities that have been abandoned to the sea. Other companies have invested large amounts of money to clean up and redevelop the cities into for-profit luxury resorts. These resorts will cater only to the wealthy and have no interest in anything other than making money. The Demeter Corporation has more noble plans for these flooded cities. If elected we will bring these flooded areas into mega-city territory to prevent private development, then clean and redevelop the flooded cities. We will not turn them into resorts for the wealthy but instead we will reopen them as a fully functioning new extension of the city. There is no reason why these areas should only be for the rich to visit and play. We can have citizens move back into homes that they had lost and abandoned.
I, Robert Brown, as mayor, promise you a brighter future from the Demeter Corporation. We propose a one child policy to help you provide more for your family, more job availability, waste reduction, policies for better health, and better land usage. This city needs major change, and we are prepared to take on that challenge. A vote for us is a vote for better future for you.
