2032 Presidential Candidate Speech: Gary-Ann Washington

Ladies and Gentlemen, and fellow Americans:

My name is Gary-Ann Washington. I stand before you today, seeking the presidency of our country, and I am a very lucky person to even be here. Without the wonders of modern medicine and the availability of 3D replacement parts, I would not be speaking to you today and I want what I have benefited from to be available to all Americans.

In America today, for those of us who have experienced catastrophic accidents or who have illnesses, there is the availability of bionic replacements. But many of our fellow citizens never experience such an accident. However, everyone has a desire to change his or her appearance in one way or another. What can’t America, the most innovative country in the world, the leader in medical research, be able to provide this wonderful advancement to all our people?

If I am elected, my fellow Americans, on day one in the White House, I intend to sign an executive order mandating the Medicare programs already in existence be empowered to cover the printing of 3D body parts for all those who qualify for assistance under these programs. But, that is simply not enough. What we need to do is to expand those programs to cover every American in need of these procedures and everyone else so we can all make ourselves into who we want to be. That is why I intend to go straight to Congress and ask for a bill that will extend this coverage to anyone who needs it in this country.

I am lucky to be given another chance to live my life.  Two years ago I was in a very tragic motor accident my whole body was severely damaged. My brain did not function anymore, my heart was failing, my skin was crisp from the 2nd degree burns and I looked as if I was not even human. I was living with the support of machines, and the doctors told my family that there was a slim chance of recovery.  The doctors suggested that I get my damaged body replaced through their new 3D body parts printer. The machine was fairly new and I would be the very one of the very first human beings with printed body parts.  My family agreed to it, my whole body was changed. The 3D printer printed my new body parts and immediately everything was replaced. The replacement of my body parts allowed me to wake within a week of the surgery.

I am thankful for another chance to live my life. I gained my strength back and I felt like a new person. After I was fully recovered, I decided that I needed a change. I went back to my doctor to replace some of my body parts with female parts. I felt that being part female and male made me a more confident person. In order to see a great perspective of our nation and the world, being both genders would allow me this opportunity. This type of technology is a new type of change not just for ourselves, but to improve the community and the world we live in.

In the past, replacement parts via robotics were extremely expensive; so expensive that only the very rich could afford it.  Shouldn't life be a basic human right?  Why should only a certain, privileged portion of the population be able to get the health care they need.  My goal is to make replacement parts available to everyone, through the new and innovative technology of 3D printing.  Robotic body parts are unwieldy and unrealistic.  With 3D printing, you can have a new body part, made of flesh and blood, using your own DNA.  It is a far cheaper and more convenient alternative to robotic prosthetic.
I want to point out that this issue is also about economics.  For decades, cosmetic surgery has been the most profitable branch of medicine.  Currently, hair restoration, cosmetic surgery, and cosmetics make up a huge part of our economy.  This shift to real, 3D printed body parts represents a new revolution.  Not only will people be able to receive cheaper and better medical attention, people can change their appearance in ways never before thought possible, and can be who they want to be.  Since the 2000’s, all of the brilliant young doctors of the world began to stray away from actual health medicine, and went into hair restoration and cosmetic surgery, because that was the most profitable.  With this new technology, we will be able to combine the fields of regular and cosmetic health care, and make actual health care an enticing option to young doctors once again.

Therefore, my fellow Americans, I stand before you and humbly ask for your vote.

My experiences as a normal American just like you are what make me an ideal president. We should not be let down by a health care system that claims it is created for Americans but one that we cannot even afford. We should not be let down by promises of technological advances when even one American cannot have affordable access to them. There must be a change and I promise you that change will be brought so that each and every one of you can live a healthier and flourishing life with 3D Printing technology the way I am living now.

Johnson and Johnson Corporation, the leaders in 3D Printing for medical purposes created the J-Care health system which gives poor and middle class families the same access to body parts that the upper class has. Though J-Care is a private system, from my first day in office onward, I will make it a public system. With this as the national health care system for all Americans, five years from now our nation will be the strongest, healthiest, most productive on the planet.

Experiment with who you are. Seek technological, medical advances to give your body, to give yourself another breath of life. This is my plan. As president, I will lead the way and with strong hopes know that we deserve a second chance to live better.

Thank you.
